Fractal Characteristics of River Networks Induced by Dynamical Stochastic Replication

چکیده
The universal fractality of river networks is very well known, however understanding their underlying mechanisms still lacking from a stochastic point view. In this study, we have described the fractal natures by introducing model where direction flow at site determined dynamical replication probability which depends on drainage area rather than random. We found that induces persistency in flows resulting self-affine properties shown real basins.

Transport on river networks: A dynamical approach
This study is motivated by problems related to environmental transport on river networks. We establish statistical properties of a flow along a directed branching network and suggest its compact parameterization. The downstream network transport is treated as a particular case of nearest-neighbor hierarchical aggregation with respect to the metric induced by the branching structure of the river...
متن کاملSelf-organized river basin landscapes: Fractal and multifractal characteristics
In recent years a new theory of the evolution of drainage networks and associated landscapes has emerged, mainly in connection with the development of fractal geometry and of self-organized criticality (SOC) concepts. This theory has much improved our understanding of the mechanisms which determine the structure of natural landscapes and their dynamics of evolution. In the first part of this pa...
متن کاملControlling statistical moments of stochastic dynamical networks.
We consider a general class of stochastic networks and ask which network nodes need to be controlled, and how, to stabilize and switch between desired metastable (target) states in terms of the first and second statistical moments of the system. We first show that it is sufficient to directly interfere with a subset of nodes which can be identified using information about the graph of the netwo...
متن کاملEvolution of Cooperation on Stochastic Dynamical Networks
Cooperative behavior that increases the fitness of others at a cost to oneself can be promoted by natural selection only in the presence of an additional mechanism. One such mechanism is based on population structure, which can lead to clustering of cooperating agents. Recently, the focus has turned to complex dynamical population structures such as social networks, where the nodes represent in...
